Assessors are certified in the State of Michigan through the State Tax Commission. Each Assessor must be certified with the level that is required for the Unit in which they provide service for. Continuing education is required and must be obtained prior to renewal of license. All education classes and requirement of hours must be approved by the State of Michigan.
The City Clerk's Office is responsible for many diverse functions of the City.

The city manager is the chief administrative officer of the city and is appointed by the mayor and the city council. Responsibilities of the city manager include oversight of the day-to-day operations of the city, enforcement of city ordinances, recommendation of policy issues to the city council and preparation of an annual budget for the council’s review and approval.

A substation of the Sheriff’s Office has been established in City Hall at 805 St. Clair River Drive where deputies will work out of. One (1) deputy position is assigned 24 hours a day to road patrol exclusively within the City limits of Algonac, with a second deputy assigned for a six (6) hour period during the evening hours each day.
