Assessors are certified in the State of Michigan through the State Tax Commission. Each Assessor must be certified with the level that is required for the Unit in which they provide service for. Continuing education is required and must be obtained prior to renewal of license.             The city manager is the chief administrative officer of the city and is appointed by the mayor and the city council.             A substation of the Sheriff’s Office has been established in City Hall at 805 St. Clair River Drive where deputies will work out of.  One (1) deputy position is assigned 24 hours a day to road patrol exclusively within the City limits of Algonac, with a second deputy assigned for a six (6) hour period during the evening hours each day.
