Welcome to the Building Department

The Building Department enforces all codes, laws and ordinances relating to building, electric, plumbing and mechanical installations. 

Permits

Building permit fees are based on the cost of the project. Contractors typically obtain the appropriate permits, however, homeowners are eligible to pull permits by signing an affidavit affirming they are doing the work themselves. Permit applications are available online. Fees are due at time of submission. Fees may change after permit review.

Contractor Registration

All contractors working in the city of Algonac are required to be licensed with the State of Michigan and to register with the City of Algonac annually.
