A downtown development authority (DDA) is designed to be a catalyst in the development of a community's downtown district. The DDA provides for a variety of funding options, including millage and tax increment financing, for public improvements in the downtown district. Typically, a DDA captures the growth in tax revenue within a designated development area for use in financing a variety of public improvements in the area, often through the issuance of bonds.
The city of Algonac's DDA is not currently active but holds two informational meetings a year.
