Anyone can vote from home, also known as absentee voting, and you don't need a reason. Simply request a ballot in writing and submit to the clerk's office.

The Michigan Bureau of Elections, in accordance with Prop 2022-2, has created a Permanent Ballot List for voters who would like to vote by absent voter ballot. Once a voter has requested to be placed on this list, an application requesting an absent voter ballot is no longer necessary. The Clerk will automatically mail an absent voter ballot prior to every election. If a voter is on the Permanent Ballot List and moves to a new city or township, they are responsible for updating their driver's license (or State ID) address with the Secretary of State or the Clerk of their new city or township. The Permanent Ballot status will stay with your voter registration; no need to re-apply. A voter only needs to request to be on the Permanent Ballot List one time.
Visit the Michigan Voter Information Center to track your absentee ballot once you've requested it.
